The Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award is given in even years, and the presentation and award symposium are held at the National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium. This award is open to any scientist or team of scientists whose research has, directly or indirectly, had a significant effect on medicinal chemistry. Although other types of accomplishments (such as a new research tool or a biological discovery) will not be excluded, emphasis shall be placed on (a) medicinal chemistry, (b) recent contributions, and (c) scientists whose accomplishments have not already been adequately recognized in the form of other honors.

The award is funded by a generous contribution from the Thomas J. Perun Endowment Fund.

Call for nominations
The Division of Medicinal Chemistry Award is given in even years, with award address at National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium. The Division of Medicinal Chemistry award consists of $6,000, a plaque, and travel expenses incidental to receiving the Award. The award shall be made biennially, in even-numbered years, at the National Medicinal Chemistry Symposium. The recipient will be asked to present an Award Address on this occasion.

The Award shall be open to any scientist here or abroad, whose research has, directly or indirectly, had a significant effect on Medicinal Chemistry. Although other types of accomplishment (such as a new research tool or a biological discovery) shall not be excluded, emphasis shall be placed on (a) medicinal chemistry, (b) recent contributions, and (c) scientists whose accomplishments have not already been adequately recognized in the form of other honors. Research teams shall not be excluded as sharers of the Award.

Nominations must include a detailed letter describing the candidate’s research accomplishments and contributions to medicinal chemistry, at least one seconding letter and a current curriculum vitae of the nominee(s). Nomination materials should be submitted as a single .pdf file.
