Medicinal Chemistry is a discipline resting at the intersection of synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology and focuses on the design, chemical synthesis and development of bio-active molecules and pharmaceutical agents.
The Division of Medicinal Chemistry (MEDI) is one of the Technical Divisions of the American Chemical Society, which is the largest scientific society in the world having over 161,000 members. The MEDI Division is one of the largest divisions having ~9,600 members from 79 countries.
MEDI members work in diverse settings such as academia, biotechnology companies, large pharmaceuticals companies, private laboratories, non-for-profit foundations, governmental labs and many others.
Many of the drugs on the market today have been conceived, designed, synthesized and analyzed by our members.
