In 1953, Dr. Paul Janssen started with pharmaceutical research
in his parents’ company in Turnhout, Belgium. Since
1961, Janssen Pharmaceutica is part of Johnson & Johnson,
the most comprehensive and broadly based manufacturer of healthcare
products in the world. Janssen medicines are sold throughout
the world.
Dr. Paul Janssen was one of the most productive pharmaceutical
researchers of the 20th century. He and his teams discovered
many break-through medicines in various disease areas, such
as anesthesia and pain management, psychiatry, mycology and
gastro-enterology. He has more than 100 patents on his name.
Dr. Janssen received 22 honorary doctorates
worldwide, more than 80 medical awards, and was honorary member
of over 30 scientific institutes and organizations.
He was author or co-author of more than 850 scientific publications
and held more than 500 scientific presentations all over the
world. Up until his death, Dr. Paul remained very involved
in the search for new medicines for diseases afflicting humankind. |
